James “Jim” Calloway#

In loving memory

James “Jim” Calloway, 73, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2026, after a life spent fixing things — cars, houses, and more than a few neighborly disputes.

Jim owned Calloway Auto on Bandera Road for 35 years. He was the man who towed you home at midnight and refused payment, who coached Little League with a rule that every kid batted, and who could be found most mornings at the same diner counter with the same coffee and the same crosswords.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane; his sons Robert (Amy) and Steven (Grace); five grandchildren; and his shop family, whom he considered his own.

In Jim’s honor, check on your neighbors this week.

Diane's next-door neighbor Forty years of borrowed tools and returned favorably late. Jim never once asked for them back on time. A gentleman.
Mike T. Jim towed my truck at 2 AM in the rain in 2011 and wouldn't take a dollar. I bought him breakfast every month since. Gonna miss you, brother.
